此後瑪拿西在大衛城外，從谿谷中基訓西邊、直到魚門口、建造一道城牆，繞着俄斐勒，把它造得極高；又在猶大各堡壘城安置將軍。

『我的條例、你們務要守。不可讓你的牲口和兩樣的種性交而相配偶；不可用兩樣的種子種你的田地；也不可用兩樣攙雜的料子作的衣服穿在身上。

哈曼進來，王問他說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、王該怎樣待他？』哈曼心裏說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、除了我以外，還有誰呢？』於是哈曼回答說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、人應該將王所常穿的朝服、王所常騎的馬、頭上戴有王冕的、帶進來；將朝服和馬交在王最顯達的大臣中的一個人手下，好讓人使給王所喜歡賜顯貴的人穿上，使他在城裏廣場上騎上那馬，讓人在他面前宣告說：「王所喜歡賜顯貴的人應該這樣受款待。」』王對哈曼說：『趕快帶朝服和馬、照你所說的、去款待那坐在御門前的猶大人末底改；凡你所說的、一樣也不可躐下。』於是哈曼將朝服給末底改穿上，將馬給他在城裏廣場上騎上，又在他面前宣告說：『王所喜歡顯貴的人應該這樣受款待。』

王差遣祭司撒督、神言人拿單、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、和做衛兵的基利提人比利提人跟他一同去；他們讓所羅門騎上王的騾子。祭司撒督和神言人拿單已經在基訓膏立了他為王；眾人都從那裏歡呼着上來；那聲音把城都震動了：這就是你們所聽見的聲音哪。

那時哈及的兒子亞多尼雅高抬自己、說：『我要做王』；就為自己豫備車輛、駿馬、和五十個人在他前面奔走。

大衛對亞比篩說：『現在比基利的兒子示巴必加害於我們、比押沙龍更厲害：你要帶領你主上的僕人去追趕他，免得他得了堡壘城，就奪了我們的視線。』約押和做衛兵的基利提人比利提人並所有的勇士都跟着亞比篩，從耶路撒冷出去，追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

又讓約瑟坐他的副車，有喝道的在前面呼叫說：『跪下』。這樣，法老就立了約瑟來治理埃及全地。
