此後，瑪拿西在大衛城外，從谷中的基訓西邊起直到魚門口，建了一道城牆，圍繞著俄斐勒，他把城牆建得很高；又在猶大各設防城裡，派駐軍長。

“你們要謹守我的律例。不可使你的牲畜與不同類的交合；在你的田裡不可撒兩種不同類的種子；兩樣料子作成的衣服，你不可穿在身上。

哈曼就進去，王問他：“王喜歡賜尊榮給他的人，要怎樣待他呢？”哈曼心裡想：“王喜歡賜尊榮的人，除我以外，還有誰呢？”於是哈曼回答王：“王喜歡賜尊榮的人，要把王常穿的朝服和王常騎的駿馬，就是頭戴王冠的駿馬帶來，把朝服和駿馬交給王最尊貴的一個大臣手裡，把衣服給王喜歡賜尊榮的人穿上，使他騎在馬上，走過城中的街上，又要有人在他前面宣告：‘王喜歡賜尊榮的人，要這樣待他。’”王對哈曼說：“趕快拿朝服和駿馬來，照著你所說的，去行在那坐在朝門那裡的猶大人末底改身上；你所說的，一樣也不可缺少。”於是哈曼把朝服和駿馬拿來，先給末底改穿上朝服，然後使他騎在馬上，走過城中的街上，又在他前面宣告：“王喜歡賜尊榮的人，要這樣待他。”

王差派撒督祭司、拿單先知和耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人，與所羅門同去。他們使所羅門騎上王的騾子。撒督祭司和拿單先知已經在基訓膏立他作王。眾人都從那裡歡歡喜喜上路；你們聽見的聲音，就是城裡的喧鬧聲。

那時哈及的兒子亞多尼雅妄自尊大，說：“我必作王。”就為自己預備了戰車、騎兵，又有五十人在他前面奔走。

大衛對亞比篩說：“現在比基利的兒子示巴要加害我們，比押沙龍更甚。你要帶著你主人的僕人去追趕他，免得他找到了設防的城鎮，就避過我們的眼目，從我們的手中逃脫了。”於是約押的人，基利提人、比利提人和所有的勇士，都跟隨亞比篩出去。他們從耶路撒冷出去，追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

又叫約瑟坐在他的副車裡，有人在他前面喊著：“跪下。”這樣，法老任命了約瑟治理埃及全地。
