王就起誓說：“我指著曾經救我的性命脫離一切患難的永活的耶和華起誓，

王便起誓說：『我指着那贖救我性命脫離一切患難的永活永恆主來起誓；

王發誓云、我指援我生命、脫於諸難、維生之耶和華而誓、

王發誓曰、昔我指以色列族之上帝耶和華、與爾發誓、言爾子所羅門必即我位、繼我為王、今我亦指援我於患難中之耶和華而發誓、必如是以行。

The king then took an oath:“ As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble,

Then the king made a promise. He said,“ The Lord has saved me from all my troubles. You can be sure that he lives.

And the king swore, saying,“ As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul out of every adversity,

And the king repeated his vow:“ As surely as the Lord lives, who has rescued me from every danger,

The king swore an oath and said,“ As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from every difficulty,

Then the king vowed and said,“ As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress,

and has delivered us from our adversaries; for his loving kindness endures forever:

He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned.

Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore,“ As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.”

The child’s mother said,“ As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So he arose, and followed her.

The people said to Saul,“ Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God today!” So the people rescued Jonathan, that he didn’t die.

Now therefore as Yahweh lives, who has established me, and set me on my father David’s throne, and who has made me a house as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death today.”
