王發誓云、我指援我生命、脫於諸難、維生之耶和華而誓、

王發誓曰、昔我指以色列族之上帝耶和華、與爾發誓、言爾子所羅門必即我位、繼我為王、今我亦指援我於患難中之耶和華而發誓、必如是以行。

The king then took an oath:“ As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble,

The godly face many dangers, but the LORD saves them from each one of them.He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken.Evil people self-destruct; those who hate the godly are punished.The LORD rescues his servants; all who take shelter in him escape punishment.

Saul accepted Jonathan’s advice and took an oath,“ As surely as the LORD lives, he will not be put to death.”

Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As certainly as the LORD God of Israel lives( whom I serve), there will be no dew or rain in the years ahead unless I give the command.”

But the army said to Saul,“ Should Jonathan, who won this great victory in Israel, die? May it never be! As surely as the LORD lives, not a single hair of his head will fall to the ground! For it is with the help of God that he has acted today.” So the army rescued Jonathan from death.

Now, as certainly as the LORD lives( he who made me secure, allowed me to sit on my father David’s throne, and established a dynasty for me as he promised), Adonijah will be executed today!”
