大衛與他列祖同睡，葬在大衛城。

耶和華又對摩西說：「你必和你列祖同睡。這百姓要起來，在他們所要去的地上，在那地的人中，隨從外邦神行邪淫，離棄我，違背我與他們所立的約。

你壽數滿足、與你列祖同睡的時候，我必使你的後裔接續你的位；我也必堅定他的國。

但你要享大壽數，平平安安地歸到你列祖那裏，被人埋葬。

亞多尼雅說：「你知道國原是歸我的，以色列眾人也都仰望我作王，不料，國反歸了我兄弟，因他得國是出乎耶和華。
