我们的上帝啊，你不惩罚他们吗？因为我们无力抵挡这来攻击我们的大军。我们不知道该怎么做，我们的眼目单仰望你。”

大卫王对全会众说：“我儿子所罗门是上帝特选的，还年幼脆弱，但这工程浩大，因这殿不是为人，而是为耶和华上帝建造的。

看哪，仆人的眼睛怎样仰望主人的手，婢女的眼睛怎样仰望女主人的手，我们的眼睛也照样仰望耶和华—我们的上帝，直到他怜悯我们。

可是耶和华的话临到我说：‘你流了许多的血，打了多次大仗；你不可为我的名建造殿宇，因为你在我面前使许多血流在地上。看哪，你要生一个儿子，他必成为安宁的人；我必使他得享安宁，不被四围仇敌扰乱。他的名字要叫所罗门，在他的日子，我必使以色列平安康泰。他必为我的名建造殿宇。他要作我的子，我要作他的父。我必坚定他国度的王位，使他治理以色列，直到永远。’
