而在我的眾兒子裏——因為永恆主賜給我許多兒子——他揀選了我的兒子所羅門坐永恆主之國的王位來管理以色列。永恆主對我說：「是你兒子所羅門、他要建造我的殿、我的院子；因為我是揀選了他做我的兒子；是我要做他的父。

『永恆主的靈藉着我來說話：他的話語在我的舌頭上。

我的眼不斷地望着永恆主，因為他才能將我的腳拔出網羅。

我們的上帝啊，你不懲罰他們麼？我們實在沒有力量對抗這來攻打我們的、這許多蜂擁軍兵；我們也不知道該怎樣行；我們的眼單單望着你。』

大衛王對全體大眾說：『我兒子所羅門、上帝所選擇的人、還年青嬌嫩，而這工程卻很大；因為這殿宇不是要為着人，乃是要為着永恆主上帝而建的。

看哪，奴僕的眼怎樣望着主人的手，婢女的眼怎樣望着主母的手，我們的眼也怎樣望着永恆主我們的上帝，直到他恩待我們。

看吧，你必生個兒子；他必是個安靜人；我必使他得享平靜、不被他四圍任何仇敵的騷擾；因為他的名字要叫所羅門；他在位的日子，我必將興隆太平賜給以色列人。是他要為我的名建殿；是他要做我的兒子，是我要做他的父；他必堅立他的國位來管理以色列到永遠。」如今呢、我兒啊，願永恆主與你同在，使你順利、得以建造永恆主你的上帝的殿，照他指着你而說的話。
