If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion— how can God’s love be in that person?

凡有世上财物的，看见弟兄穷乏，却塞住怜恤的心，爱神的心怎能存在他里面呢？

凡有世上财物的，看见弟兄缺乏，却关闭了恻隐的心，上帝的爱怎能住在他里面呢？

如果一个丰衣足食的人看见贫穷的弟兄姊妹，却毫无怜悯之心，怎能说他爱上帝呢？

但如果有人拥有世界的财产，看见自己的弟兄有需要，却封闭情感，那么，属神的爱怎么能住在他里面呢？

凡有人有世上養生之資，見他弟兄有缺乏，卻向他關閉着憐憫的心腸，愛上帝的心怎能存在他裏面呢？

但如果有人擁有世界的財產，看見自己的弟兄有需要，卻封閉情感，那麼，屬神的愛怎麼能住在他裡面呢？

凡有斯世之財產者、視兄弟匱乏、自塞其矜恤之心、則上帝之愛烏得寓其衷哉、

人有恆產、見兄弟匱乏、而不開誠施與、烏能愛上帝哉、

人若有世之貲財、見兄弟窮乏而不矜恤施與、焉得謂之存愛天主之心乎、焉得謂之存愛天主之心乎原文作則天主之愛豈存於其內乎○

若有人擁有斯世之財富、見其兄弟有急、而閉塞其同情之心、則安得有天主之愛德、存於其衷乎。

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. And suppose that person doesn’t take pity on these needy people. Then how can the love of God be in that person?

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him— how does God’s love reside in him?

But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him?

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need— how can God’s love reside in him?

But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels[ of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

But whoever has the world’s possessions and sees his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God reside in such a person?

But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

John replied,“ If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.“ Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.Then when you call, the Lord will answer.‘ Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.“ Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too.
