This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

We know what love is because Jesus Christ gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for our brothers and sisters.

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

要在愛中行事，就像基督也愛了我們，為我們捨棄了自己，做供物和祭物獻給神，成為馨香的氣味。

但是，當我們還是罪人的時候，基督就替我們死了。神的愛就在此向我們顯明了。

從那信實的見證者、死人中首先復活的、地上眾君王的元首耶穌基督，臨到你們！他愛我們，用自己的血，把我們從我們的罪孽中釋放出來，

這是我的命令：你們要彼此相愛，就像我愛了你們那樣。一個人為他的朋友捨棄自己的生命，人的愛沒有比這更大的了。

就像人子來不是為了受人的服事，而是為了服事人，並且獻上自己的生命，替許多人做救贖的代價。」

期待那蒙福的盼望，以及我們那偉大的神、救主耶穌基督榮耀的顯現。

然而，即使我被做為奠祭，澆在你們信仰的祭物和服事上，我也歡喜，並且和你們大家一同歡喜；

就像父認識我，我也認識父那樣，而且我為羊捨棄自己的生命。

因為他為了基督的工作，幾乎至死，冒了生命的危險，為要彌補你們服事我的缺乏。

他在木頭上，以自己的身體親自擔當了我們的罪孽，好使我們既然向罪而死，就能向義而活；因他受的鞭傷，你們得了痊癒。

因為你們知道，你們被救贖，脫離祖先所傳下來的虛妄行為，不是憑著會朽壞的東西，如銀子或金子，
