We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need— how can God’s love reside in him?

If I speak human or angelic languages but do not have love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.And if I donate all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

If we say,“ We have fellowship with Him,” yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth.

know His will, and approve the things that are superior, being instructed from the law,and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of the immature, having the full expression of knowledge and truth in the law—you then, who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach,“ You must not steal”— do you steal?

“ If you were blind,” Jesus told them,“ you wouldn’t have sin. But now that you say,‘ We see’— your sin remains.
