雖然、吾所書者、亦可謂之新誡命、主所體認、亦爾等所體認者也。蓋暗昧寖消、而真光已著矣。

Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

真光者、臨世照萬人者也、

我示爾以新誡、即爾相愛是也、故爾宜相愛、猶我愛爾焉、

即世之上帝、惑不信者心、使肖上帝之基督福音之榮、不光照焉、我傳道不言己、乃言耶穌基督為主、緣耶穌為爾僕、昔上帝命光照暗、今照吾心、使知上帝榮、在耶穌基督而顯、

萬有之主耶和華曰、凡寅畏我名者、將見義主、興若旭日、輝光激射、有若矯翼、煦育萬物、踴躍有如肥犢、

愛上帝者、亦當愛兄弟、此我所受之命也、

良朋乎、上帝既愛我如此、則我亦當相愛、

不友兄弟者、恆在死所、我友兄弟、故知出死入生、怨兄弟者、罪等殺人、爾知殺人者、不得永生、基督為我捐軀則其愛我可知、我亦當為兄弟捐軀、

冬已過、雨已止、花開鳥啼、鳩聲遍聞、

爾宜相愛、如我愛爾、此我誡也、人為友捐命、愛無有大於此者、爾遵我命即我友矣、今而後、我不僕爾、以僕不知主所行、我惟友爾、以我聞於父者、皆示爾也、

處暗之民、已見大光、居死地陰翳者、有光射之、

耶穌曰、光與爾在暫耳、有光則行、恐暗忽至、暗行者不知所往、

上帝甦基督、不錫榮光、欲爾堅厥信、望上帝恩、
