暗昧消而真光著、余以新命傳爾、主曾實踐、爾亦如之、

我復將新誡致書以傳爾、在主乃真、在爾亦真、蓋晦暗方過、而真光已照也、

雖然、吾所書者、亦可謂之新誡命、主所體認、亦爾等所體認者也。蓋暗昧寖消、而真光已著矣。

Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

But I am writing what amounts to a new command. Its truth was shown in how Jesus lived. It is also shown in how you live. That’s because the darkness is passing away. And the true light is already shining.

那光是真光，照亮一切生在世上的人。

我赐给你们一条新命令，乃是叫你们彼此相爱；我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样相爱。

此等不信之人被这世界的神弄瞎了心眼，不叫基督荣耀福音的光照着他们。基督本是神的像。我们原不是传自己，乃是传基督耶稣为主，并且自己因耶稣作你们的仆人。那吩咐光从黑暗里照出来的神，已经照在我们心里，叫我们得知神荣耀的光显在耶稣基督的面上。

但向你们敬畏我名的人必有公义的日头出现，其光线有医治之能。你们必出来跳跃如圈里的肥犊。

爱神的，也当爱弟兄，这是我们从神所受的命令。

亲爱的弟兄啊，神既是这样爱我们，我们也当彼此相爱。

我们因为爱弟兄，就晓得是已经出死入生了。没有爱心的，仍住在死中。凡恨他弟兄的，就是杀人的；你们晓得凡杀人的，没有永生存在他里面。主为我们舍命，我们从此就知道何为爱；我们也当为弟兄舍命。

因为冬天已往，雨水止住过去了。地上百花开放，百鸟鸣叫的时候已经来到；斑鸠的声音在我们境内也听见了。

你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样；这就是我的命令。人为朋友舍命，人的爱心没有比这个大的。你们若遵行我所吩咐的，就是我的朋友了。以后我不再称你们为仆人，因仆人不知道主人所做的事。我乃称你们为朋友；因我从我父所听见的，已经都告诉你们了。

在黑暗中行走的百姓看见了大光；住在死荫之地的人有光照耀他们。

耶稣对他们说：“光在你们中间还有不多的时候，应当趁着有光行走，免得黑暗临到你们；那在黑暗里行走的，不知道往何处去。

你们也因着他，信那叫他从死里复活、又给他荣耀的神，叫你们的信心和盼望都在于神。
