不可報復，不可埋怨同胞，要愛鄰如己。我是耶和華。

耶穌回答道：「最重要的誡命是，『聽啊，以色列！主——我們的上帝是獨一的主。你要全心、全情、全意、全力愛主——你的上帝』；其次就是『要愛鄰如己』。再也沒有任何誡命比這兩條更重要了。」那位律法教師說：「老師，你說得對，上帝只有一位，除祂以外，別無他神。我們要全心、全意、全力愛祂，又要愛鄰如己。這樣做比獻什麼祭都好。」耶穌見他答得很有智慧，就告訴他：「你離上帝的國不遠了。」此後，沒人再敢問耶穌問題了。

耶穌回答說：「『你要全心、全情、全意愛主——你的上帝』，這是第一條也是最重要的誡命。第二條也相似，就是『要愛鄰如己』。律法和先知的全部教導都以這兩條誡命為基礎。」

弟兄姊妹，你們蒙召得了自由，但不要以自由為藉口來放縱情慾，要本著愛心互相服侍，因為全部的律法可以總結成一句話：「要愛鄰如己」。

你們要全心、全意、全力愛你們的上帝耶和華。

如果你們能切實行出聖經中「要愛鄰如己」這條至尊的律法，就好了。如果你們偏待人，嫌貧愛富，便是犯罪，律法要將你們定罪。人只要觸犯律法中的一條，就等於違犯了全部，因為那位說「不可通姦」的，也說過「不可殺人」。如果你沒有犯通姦罪，卻殺了人，你仍違犯了律法。既然你們要按使人自由的律法受審判，就應該按律法行事為人。
