耶稣回答说：“‘你要全心、全情、全意爱主——你的上帝’，这是第一条也是最重要的诫命。第二条也相似，就是‘要爱邻如己’。律法和先知的全部教导都以这两条诫命为基础。”

弟兄姊妹，你们蒙召得了自由，但不要以自由为借口来放纵情欲，要本着爱心互相服侍，因为全部的律法可以总结成一句话：“要爱邻如己”。

你们要全心、全意、全力爱你们的上帝耶和华。

如果你们能切实行出圣经中“要爱邻如己”这条至尊的律法，就好了。如果你们偏待人，嫌贫爱富，便是犯罪，律法要将你们定罪。人只要触犯律法中的一条，就等于违犯了全部，因为那位说“不可通奸”的，也说过“不可杀人”。如果你没有犯通奸罪，却杀了人，你仍违犯了律法。既然你们要按使人自由的律法受审判，就应该按律法行事为人。
