孩子們哪，你們要住在基督裏面。這樣，他若顯現，我們就可以坦然無懼；當他來臨的時候，在他面前不至於慚愧。

小子乎、今宜恆在彼中、迨彼顯著、我儕於其降臨時、可毅然而無愧、

小子乎、當心交乎主、迨主顯著、我可無懼、主既降臨、我亦不愧、

小子乎、爾當恆居主內、使我儕至主顯現、在其降臨之時、得毅然無懼、且可無愧於其前、

總之、望吾小子、常寓基督懷中庶幾於彼重臨之日、吾人得具自信、而不致無顏以對。

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

基督是你們的生命，他顯現的時候，你們也要與他一同在榮耀裏顯現。

我的孩子們哪，我把這些話寫給你們，是要你們不犯罪。若有人犯罪，在父那裏我們有一位中保，就是那義者耶穌基督。

凡在這淫亂罪惡的世代，把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在他父的榮耀裏與聖天使一同來臨的時候，也要把那人當作可恥的。」

當我們的主耶穌再來，我們站在他面前的時候，我們的盼望、喜樂和所誇的冠冕是甚麼呢？不正是你們嗎？

以致你們在恩賜上一無欠缺，切切等候我們主耶穌基督的顯現。

他來的日子，誰能當得起呢？他顯現的時候，誰能立得住呢？因為他如煉金匠的火，如漂洗者的鹼。

要守這命令，毫不玷污，無可指責，直到我們的主耶穌基督顯現。

同樣，基督既然一次獻上，擔當了許多人的罪，將來要第二次顯現，與罪無關，而是為了拯救熱切等候他的人。

使你們的信心既被考驗，就比那被火試煉仍然能壞的金子更顯寶貴，可以在耶穌基督顯現的時候得着稱讚、榮耀、尊貴。

到那日，人必說：「看哪，這是我們的神，我們向來等候他，他必拯救我們。這是耶和華，我們向來等候他，我們必因他的救恩歡喜快樂。」

就如經上所記：「我在錫安放一塊絆腳的石頭，使人跌倒的磐石；信靠他的人必不蒙羞。」
