如今，孩子们哪，你们当住在他里面，好使他显现的时候，我们可以坦然无惧，他来临的时候，我们可以在他面前不至于蒙羞。

基督是你们的生命，当他显现的时候，你们那时也就和他一同在荣耀里显现。

我的孩子们哪，我把这些事写给你们，免得你们犯罪。但如果有人犯了罪，在父那里我们有一位辩护者，就是那义者耶稣基督。

在这淫乱、罪恶的世代，一个人如果以我和我的话为耻，当人子在他父的荣耀中，与圣天使们一起来临的时候，也要以这个人为耻。”

我们主耶稣来临的时候，在主面前，到底谁是我们的盼望、喜乐和所夸耀的冠冕呢？难道不也是你们吗？

以致你们在任何恩赐上都不缺乏，热切等待着我们主耶稣基督的显现。

不过他来的日子，谁能承受得起呢？他显现的时候，谁能站立得住呢？因为他像炼金之人的火，又像漂布之人的碱。

要毫无玷污、无可指责地遵守这命令，直到我们主耶稣基督的显现。

照样，基督为了担当众人的罪孽，也被献上一次；将来还要再一次显现，不是为了罪，而是为了使那些热切等待他的人得到救恩。

好让你们的信仰经过考验，就比那被火炼过仍然会朽坏的金子更加宝贵，能在耶稣基督显现的时候，被看为是可以得着称赞、荣耀和尊贵的。

到那日，必有人说：“看哪，这是我们的神，我们等候他，他拯救了我们！这是耶和华，我们等候他，让我们因他的救恩欢喜快乐！”

正如经上所记：“看哪，我在锡安放一块绊脚的石头，是使人绊倒的磐石；可是信靠他的人将不至于蒙羞。”
