總之、望吾小子、常寓基督懷中庶幾於彼重臨之日、吾人得具自信、而不致無顏以對。

基督就是你们的新生命，祂显现的时候，你们也必和祂一起在荣耀中显现。

我的孩子们，我写这些话给你们是为了叫你们不要犯罪。如果有人犯了罪，在父那里我们有一位护慰者，就是那位义者——耶稣基督。

“在这淫乱、罪恶的世代，如果有人以我和我的道为耻，人子在父的荣耀中与圣天使再来的时候，也要以他为耻。”

我们主耶稣再来的时候，我们在祂面前的盼望、喜乐和可夸耀的冠冕是什么呢？不就是你们吗？

因此，你们在殷切等候我们主耶稣基督再来的期间，并不缺少任何属灵的恩赐。

然而，祂来临的日子，谁能承受得了呢？祂出现的时候，谁能站立得住呢？因为祂像炼金之火，又像漂白衣裳的碱。

要遵守这命令，做纯洁无瑕、无可指责的人，一直到我们的主耶稣基督再来。

同样，基督为了承担世人的罪，也曾一次献上自己。祂还要再来，不是来除罪，而是来拯救那些热切等候祂的人。

这样，你们的信心经过试验便显明是真实的，比那经过火炼仍会坏掉的金子更加宝贵，使你们可以在耶稣基督显现时得到称赞、荣耀和尊贵。

到那日，人们必说：“看啊，这是我们的上帝，我们信靠祂，祂拯救了我们。这是耶和华，我们信靠祂，我们要因祂的拯救而欢喜快乐。”

正如圣经上说：“看啊！我在锡安放了一块绊脚石，一块使人跌倒的磐石。但信靠祂的人必不致蒙羞。”
