For it is written in the Law of Moses:“ Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

Here is what is written in the Law of Moses.“ Do not stop an ox from eating while it helps separate the grain from the straw.”( Deuteronomy 25:4) Is it oxen that God is concerned about?

For it is written in the Law of Moses,“ You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned?

碾穀之牛、勿籠其口。

經云、碾穀之牛、勿籠其口、又曰、工得其值、宜也、

斯皆惟主是賴、隨時主給以食兮、

萬物惟爾是仰、隨時給食兮、爾施厥恩、萬生得以果腹兮、

試思鴉鳥、不稼不穡、無倉無廩、而上帝養之、爾之於鳥、其貴何如耶、爾曹誰能以思慮延命一刻乎、是至微者尚不能、何慮其餘乎、試思百合花、如何而長、不勞不紡、吾語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、其衣不及此花之一、且夫野草、今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣被之若此、況爾小信者乎、○

越至七日、則耶和華爾上帝之安息日也、是日爾與子女僕婢牛驢牲畜、及遠人主於爾家者、皆勿操作、使爾僕婢安息、與爾無異。

彼布雲於天、降雨於地、使草萊滋長於山岡兮、小鴉嚶鳴、主聞其聲、六畜飢餒、主給以食兮。

試觀飛鳥不稼不穡、無積無廩、天父且養之、爾豈不貴於鳥乎、爾曹誰能以思慮延命一刻乎、曷為衣服慮耶、試思野有百合花、如何而長、不勞不紡、我語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、其衣不及此花之一、且夫野草、今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣被之若此、況爾小信者乎、

爾見同儕之牛羊、迷於歧路、勿掩目弗視、必返之於同儕。如同儕離爾甚遠、或素不相識、則取牛羊以歸、留於爾家、迨同儕求之、然後反之。其驢其衣、凡同儕、所失之物、而爾得之、俱必如是、勿掩目弗視、乃必反之。爾見同儕之牛驢、途間伏地、勿掩目視弗、乃必助同儕、扶而起之。

耶和華使驢作人言、謂巴蘭曰、我無所獲罪於爾、爾乃策我者三、巴蘭曰、汝戲我、願有刃於我手、我必殺汝。驢曰、我非爾常乘之驢與、自昔及今、我嘗有是行否、曰、否。耶和華明巴蘭目、乃見使者拔刃立於道、故稽首俯伏。使者曰、三策爾驢何也、爾所行者違逆於我、故我出以禦爾。驢見我而避者三、不然我已殺爾、使驢得生。巴蘭曰、我知過矣、不識爾立於途中以禦我、爾若不悅我往、我將返。曰姑與偕往、惟我所諭爾必言之、於是巴蘭偕巴勒使臣往、

況尼尼微大邑幼稚、不識左右者、不下十二萬、亦有群畜、我能不宥之乎。
