For it is written in the Law of Moses:“ Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

盍觀群鴉、不稼不穡、無庫無倉、而天主猶養之畜之。爾之貴於飛禽、不亦多乎？且爾中誰能憑其思慮、而自延尺寸之壽命乎？此至微者、爾尚無能為力、遑恤其他。盍觀玉簪花、不勞不紡、而其發榮滋長、為如何耶？吾語爾、即所羅門之黼黻文章、盛極一時者、以視一朵玉簪猶有遜色。夫野草今日在田、明日投爐、天主猶飾之如此、況於爾乎？噫、何爾信心之薄也。

盍觀天際飛禽、不稼不穡、無儲於倉、而爾在天之父、猶且養之蓄之；爾等之貴於飛禽、不亦多乎？且爾中孰能憑其思慮、而自延尺寸之壽命？若夫衣飾之事、更何所用其焦慮？盍視田野之玉簪花如何發榮滋長、既不勞作、又不紡績、第吾語爾、即以所羅門之黼黻文章、盛極一時者、視一朵玉簪、猶有遜色。夫田間野草、今日暫存、而明日投爐者、天主尚且飾之若斯、而況於爾乎？噫、何爾信心之薄也！
