兄弟乎、我姑言之、時日促矣、今而後有妻者當如無妻、

兄弟乎、所餘之時無幾、故有妻者當如無妻、

第有一語、不得不為兄弟告者、即人生在世、為日無多；故有妻當若無妻、

What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not;

Brothers and sisters, what I mean is that the time is short. From now on, those who have a husband or wife should live as if they did not.

緣此、知時已屆、今宜自寐而寤、蓋我儕得救、較初信時為尤近、夜既央、晝伊邇、我儕宜脫昏暗之行、而服光明之甲、

噫、爾言今日明日將往某邑、寓彼一年、貿易獲利、但明日如何、爾不知也、爾生命伊何、猶雲霧耳、暫見而即無矣、寧言若主有旨、我儕且生、行此行彼、今爾以虛誕自詡、凡此者非善也、

故我儕宜負其辱、出營外就之、蓋我儕於此無恆存之邑、惟求將來者、

用此世者如不妄用、蓋斯世之情狀逝矣、

且世漸逝、其慾亦然、惟行上帝旨者永存、○

耶和華歟、俾知我身之終、年壽幾何、致我自知荏弱兮、爾使我之年歲、數掌可量、我之壽算、在於爾前、若無有兮、世人穩立時、亦皆虛空兮、世人行動乃虛幻、擾攘乃徒勞、積蓄貨財、不知誰取兮、主歟、我今奚俟、所望惟爾、

事之要義、尚其聽之、寅畏上帝、守其誡命、此乃人所當行、蓋人之所為、及諸隱微之事、或善或惡、上帝必鞫之、

爾衝人若大水、彼如寢寐、如朝生之草兮、晨則萌芽滋長、夕則芟刈枯槁兮、我儕因爾怒而消亡、緣爾忿而驚惶兮、我之罪愆、爾陳之於目前、我之隱惡、爾顯之於容光兮、我之時日、度於爾怒、畢我歲月、如歎息之發兮、我之年數、乃為七旬、如其強健、可至八旬、然其所誇、祇為憂苦、其逝迅速、我去如飛兮、

有聲曰、當號呼、曰、我呼云何、曰、凡有血氣者如草、其美容如田野之花、草枯花凋、蓋耶和華以氣噓之、斯民誠如草也、草枯花凋、惟我上帝之言永存、○

蓋曰、世人如草、其榮如花、草枯花謝、

爾手可為者、當盡力為之、緣爾將至之陰府、無工作、無籌畫、無知識、無智慧、○

夫萬物之終伊邇、故宜端正節制而祈禱、

愛友乎、勿忘斯事、在主一日猶千年、千年猶一日、主不延緩其所許、若有視為延緩者、乃寬忍爾曹、不欲一人沉淪、惟欲人皆改悔、

塵返於地、神歸於賦之之上帝、傳道者曰、虛空之虛空、萬事虛空、○

人之畢生、虛度之日如影、何者有益於彼、孰其知之、逝世之後、日下將有何事、孰能告之、

耶和華使大地空虛荒蕪、傾而覆之、散其居民、庶人與祭司、僕與主、婢女與主母、購者與售者、貸人者與貸於人者、取利者與納利者、無不若是、

由婦所生之人、時日短促、憂苦充盈、其出如花、而遭翦伐、如影之馳、不得停留、

維彼世人、其日如草、其生如野花兮、一經風過、即歸烏有、其地不復識之兮、
