然吾作此論、乃係體諒人情、非命令也。

夫世之所求於司庫者、亦惟忠信而已矣。

壯年之男。葬身火腹。閨中之女。終身寂寞。

吾人既蒙洪恩、而負此使命、故中心不餒、毅然棄絕一切暗昧可恥之事、不行巧詐、不貶損天主之道、惟知在天主明鑒之下、藉真理之昌明、而自致於各人之良知而已。

竊思基督耶穌以吾為忠實之徒、令供斯役、且予我以扶植、賜我以神力；此恩此德、昊天罔極。我本為褻瀆天主、摧殘教會、倨傲無禮之人、而竟蒙天主之矜憐者、蓋以我當時未有信德、盲目而行耳。今則吾主之聖寵、沛然充溢、膏澤吾身、俾我得仰體基督之心、信德愛德、日充日新。吾人常言、基督之降生斯世、為救罪人也。旨哉言乎、不我欺也。而罪人之中、吾其尤著者也。然吾之所以蒙矜憐者、蓋基督耶穌欲以我為先例、以昭示其無荒不包之雅量、庶幾後之信者、聞風而興、以承永生。

惟須預為聲明者、吾今之所言、非依主之道、乃一發心中之狂愚、故姑妄言之耳。

雖然、男娶女嫁、究非罪孽；惟肉身上之苦痛、在所不免；吾欲免爾苦痛耳。

因是、吾人不敢貶損天主聖道、以圖私利、若滔滔者之所為；惟知契合基督、對越天主、一秉至誠、以宣純粹之道而已矣。

至於已有家室者、予有命焉、豈第予命實主命也：妻不得離其夫、

倘有閨女、年已及笄、其父斟酌情形、若不速嫁、將貽其羞、則可權宜處置、俾成眷屬、亦不為過。若無必要、其父如能堅定心意、按其力之所及、使其女得常為童貞、斯為美矣。總之、嫁其女善也；不嫁其女、則更善矣。

吾之得有今日、皆賴天主之寵佑；惟予黽勉勞苦、視他人有過無不及、則未辜負天主之寵佑也。雖然、是亦天主寵佑而已、初非予之功也。

無夫者及處女、亦能專心事主、惟求神形之聖潔，有夫者則注意世故、兼欲取悅於夫矣。
