Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

Dear friends, I warn you as“ temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.

Yes, I am afraid that when I come again, God will humble me in your presence. And I will be grieved because many of you have not given up your old sins. You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and eagerness for lustful pleasure.

Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,

not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.

For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil.But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double edged sword.Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.For she cares nothing about the path to life. She staggers down a crooked trail and doesn’t realize it.So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say:Stay away from her! Don’t go near the door of her house!If you do, you will lose your honor and will lose to merciless people all you have achieved.Strangers will consume your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor.In the end you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body.You will say,“ How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors?I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.”Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife.

She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding,“ Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled,she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running.“ Look!” she said.“ My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed.When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.”She kept the cloak with her until her husband came home.Then she told him her story.“ That Hebrew slave you’ve brought into our house tried to come in and fool around with me,” she said.“ But when I screamed, he ran outside, leaving his cloak with me!”

It will keep you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of a promiscuous woman.Don’t lust for her beauty. Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire?Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet?So it is with the man who sleeps with another man’s wife. He who embraces her will not go unpunished.Excuses might be found for a thief who steals because he is starving.But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house.But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself.

“ Come in with me,” she urges the simple. To those who lack good judgment, she says,“ Stolen water is refreshing; food eaten in secret tastes the best!”But little do they know that the dead are there. Her guests are in the depths of the grave.

Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman.While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain,I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense.He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path by her house.It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell.The woman approached him, seductively dressed and sly of heart.She was the brash, rebellious type, never content to stay at home.She is often in the streets and markets, soliciting at every corner.She threw her arms around him and kissed him, and with a brazen look she said,“ I’ve just made my peace offerings and fulfilled my vows.You’re the one I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are!My bed is spread with beautiful blankets, with colored sheets of Egyptian linen.I’ve perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning. Let’s enjoy each other’s caresses,for my husband is not home. He’s away on a long trip.He has taken a wallet full of money with him and won’t return until later this month.”So she seduced him with her pretty speech and enticed him with her flattery.He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter. He was like a stag caught in a trap,awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words.Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.For she has been the ruin of many; many men have been her victims.Her house is the road to the grave. Her bedroom is the den of death.

So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God.Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to the grave.The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.
