但人非皆有此知識、至今尚有心念偶像者、彼食祭物、自覺為祭偶像之物、內心暗弱之故、則見污矣、我儕不能以食物悅天主、我食無益、不食無損、第當謹慎、勿以爾之自由、使荏弱者躓蹶、彼內心暗弱者、見爾有知者、席坐於偶像之廟、不亦敢食祭偶像之物乎、是爾荏弱之兄弟、雖基督已為之死、將因爾之知而淪亡矣、爾如此得罪兄弟、傷其暗弱之內心、即得罪基督、故食物若使我兄弟躓蹶、則我永不食肉、免我使我兄弟躓蹶也、

我儕如此、非因無權使爾供我、乃為爾自作模範、使爾效我儕、

當謹慎、恐爾中有失天主之恩者、恐有毒根滋長、妨礙爾眾、使多人染穢污、恐有行淫者、褻瀆者如以掃、彼為一餐、鬻長子之業、

論及食祭偶像之物、我儕知偶像在世間為虛無、亦知天主獨一無他、

我儕知律法純神、我乃屬肉體、見鬻於罪、為其所轄、

彼在爾相愛之筵席、如礙石、如礙石或作為瑕為玷與爾同食、惟知自飽、無所忌憚、彼等如無雨之雲、為風所飄、如秋後無果之樹、死而又死、根株盡拔、

他人尚操此權於爾中、況我儕乎、然我儕未用此權、寧忍一切、免阻基督之福音、
