我宗主耶穌確知深信、凡物原無不潔、惟以之為不潔者、則於彼為不潔矣、若使兄弟因食而憂、則所行不由於愛也、基督既為之死、爾毋以所食敗之、毋令爾之善、為人所謗、蓋上帝之國、不在飲食、惟義與安、及聖神中之樂也、以此而事基督者、為上帝所悅、世人所稱、是以凡致和平、互相建立之事、我儕宜追求之、勿因食毀上帝之工、凡物固潔、然於因食而躓者、則惡矣、不食肉、不飲酒、凡事不使兄弟躓者、則善也、爾有信、當守之於上帝前、人所稱許而內不疚者、福矣、疑而食者定罪、以其不由乎信、凡不由乎信者、罪也、

然人不皆有此知識、至今有習於偶像者、而食若為祭物然、其良心尚弱、故見浼焉、非所食者、使我悅於上帝、不食無損、食亦無益、惟宜慎之、恐爾之自由、為弱者之躓礙也、或見爾有知識者、席坐偶像之廟、彼良心尚弱、豈不果於食祭像之物乎、懦弱之兄弟、基督為之死、乃因爾知識而淪亡、如是爾獲罪兄弟、傷其懦弱之良心、乃獲罪基督矣、故食物若礙我兄弟、我永不食肉、免其礙之也、

非我無權、第自為模楷、俾爾效我、

慎之哉、恐有失上帝恩者、恐有苦根發萌以擾爾、致眾玷污、恐有淫亂者、或輕侮如以掃者、為一餔啜、而鬻長子之分、

夫食祭像之物、我知在世之像為虛、上帝乃獨一無他、

夫我儕知律屬神、我屬形軀、自鬻於罪、

彼與爾同餐、則於爾之愛筵、有如暗礁、為無懼之牧者、惟己是飼、為無雨之雲、因風飄蕩、為無果之秋樹、再死根拔、

他人且操此權、況我乎、然我不為也、寧凡事容忍、免阻基督福音、
