一面被毁谤，遭患难，成了戏景，叫众人观看；一面陪伴那些受这样苦难的人。

揭开第五印的时候，我看见在祭坛底下，有为神的道、并为作见证被杀之人的灵魂，大声喊着说：“圣洁真实的主啊，你不审判住在地上的人，给我们伸流血的冤，要等到几时呢？”于是有白衣赐给他们各人；又有话对他们说，还要安息片时，等着一同作仆人的和他们的弟兄也像他们被杀，满足了数目。

免得有人被诸般患难摇动。因为你们自己知道，我们受患难原是命定的。

还有亚细亚几位首领，是保罗的朋友，打发人来劝他，不要冒险到戏园里去。

满城都轰动起来。众人拿住与保罗同行的马其顿人该犹和亚里达古，齐心拥进戏园里去。

我们又因何时刻冒险呢？弟兄们，我在我主基督耶稣里，指着你们所夸的口极力地说，我是天天冒死。我若当日像寻常人，在以弗所同野兽战斗，那于我有什么益处呢？若死人不复活，我们就吃吃喝喝吧！因为明天要死了。

又有人忍受戏弄、鞭打、捆锁、监禁、各等的磨炼，

我又看见那女人喝醉了圣徒的血和为耶稣作见证之人的血。我看见她，就大大地希奇。天使对我说：“你为什么希奇呢？我要将这女人和驮着她的那七头十角兽的奥秘告诉你。
