Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have begun to reign— and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you!

You already have everything you want, don’t you? Have you already become rich? Have you already begun to rule? And did you do that without us? I wish that you really had begun to rule. Then we could also rule with you!

You think you already have everything you need. You think you are already rich. You have begun to reign in God’s kingdom without us! I wish you really were reigning already, for then we would be reigning with you.

Indeed, the leaders sit there on thrones and make legal decisions, on the thrones of the house of David.Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May those who love her prosper!May there be peace inside your defenses, and prosperity inside your fortresses!For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors I will say,“ May there be peace in you!”For the sake of the temple of the LORD our God I will pray for you to prosper.

Those who think they are wise are as good as dead, those who think they possess understanding.

For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that– whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent– I should hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

“ Woe to you who are well satisfied with food now, for you will be hungry.“ Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

Because you say,“ I am rich and have acquired great wealth, and need nothing,” but do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked,

Like cloudy skies and wind that produce no rain, so is the one who boasts of a gift not given.

For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you are strong. And we pray for this: that you may become fully qualified.

For who is our hope or joy or crown to boast of before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not of course you?For you are our glory and joy!

There is one who pretends to be rich and yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor and yet possesses great wealth.

This saying is trustworthy: If we died with him, we will also live with him.If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.

I know that after I am gone fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.Even from among your own group men will arise, teaching perversions of the truth to draw the disciples away after them.

I wish that you would be patient with me in a little foolishness, but indeed you are being patient with me!

Paul replied,“ I pray to God that whether in a short or a long time not only you but also all those who are listening to me today could become such as I am, except for these chains.”

But now Timothy has come to us from you and given us the good news of your faith and love and that you always think of us with affection and long to see us just as we also long to see you!So in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, through your faith.For now we are alive again, if you stand firm in the Lord.For how can we thank God enough for you, for all the joy we feel because of you before our God?

Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for me? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”

Some have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you.

So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, continue working out your salvation with awe and reverence,
