吾之所以不惜以自己及亞波羅為例、而為此諄諄告誡者、乃為兄弟之益也。務望爾等以吾儕為則、謹守經訓、不可驕矜自慢、而抱出奴入主之態度。

Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.

Brothers and sisters, I have used myself and Apollos as examples to help you. You can learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Don’t go beyond what is written.” Then you won’t be proud that you follow one of us instead of the other.

Dear brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself to illustrate what I’ve been saying. If you pay attention to what I have quoted from the Scriptures, you won’t be proud of one of your leaders at the expense of another.

Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying:“ Nothing beyond what is written.” The purpose is that none of you will be arrogant, favoring one person over another.

Now these things, brothers and sisters, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos on your account, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant

What I mean is that each one of you says,“ I follow Paul,” or“ I follow Apollos,” or“ I follow Cephas,” or“ I follow Christ.”

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,

Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; But I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.

And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do.For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Look at what is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we.

Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that“ all of us possess knowledge.” This“ knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

For it is written,“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”

For when one says,“ I follow Paul,” and another,“ I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged,

I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.

Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power.

For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their craftiness,”

For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity, will he not consider it?But a stupid man will get understanding when a wild donkey’s colt is born a man!

Thus says the Lord:“ Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

And they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness— look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.”John answered,“ A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.

So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,

Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

so that, as it is written,“ Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ.

And Joshua the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses from his youth, said,“ My lord Moses, stop them.”But Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”
