Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.

Brothers and sisters, I have used myself and Apollos as examples to help you. You can learn from us the meaning of the saying,“ Don’t go beyond what is written.” Then you won’t be proud that you follow one of us instead of the other.

I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

Dear brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself to illustrate what I’ve been saying. If you pay attention to what I have quoted from the Scriptures, you won’t be proud of one of your leaders at the expense of another.

Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying:“ Nothing beyond what is written.” The purpose is that none of you will be arrogant, favoring one person over another.

Let no man rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he hath seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

For if I should desire to glory, I shall not be foolish; for I shall speak the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should account of me above that which he seeth me to be, or heareth from me.

But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them that desire an occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we showed ourselves toward you for your sake.

Ye look at the things that are before your face. If any man trusteth in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again with himself, that, even as he is Christ’s, so also are we.

Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.

Put not your trust in princes, Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.

For when one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not men?What then is Apollos? and what is Paul? Ministers through whom ye believed; and each as the Lord gave to him.I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

not glorying beyond our measure, that is, in other men’s labors; but having hope that, as your faith groweth, we shall be magnified in you according to our province unto further abundance,

And I do all things for the gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof.

For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with certain of them that commend themselves: but they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.

Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He that taketh the wise in their craftiness:

For he knoweth false men: He seeth iniquity also, even though he consider it not.But vain man is void of understanding, Yea, man is born as a wild ass’s colt.

Thus saith Jehovah: Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from Jehovah.For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited.

And ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you.

And they came unto John, and said to him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it have been given him from heaven.

Wherefore let no one glory in men. For all things are yours;
