Some of you have become arrogant, thinking I will not visit you again.

有些人自高自大，以为我不到你们那里去；

有些人以为我不到你们那里去而自高自大。

你们当中有些人以为我不会再去你们那里，就傲慢自大起来。

有人以为我不会到你们那里去，就自高自大。

有些人以为我不会到你们那里去，他们就自我膨胀。

今有人意我不來而自矜、

有人意我不來、妄自誇大、

有人意我不來就爾、妄自誇大、

爾中有人、近頗言大而誇、一若我無再來爾處之可能也者。

Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you.

Some of you have become proud. You act as if I weren’t coming to you.

Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.

Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

Now some are inflated with pride, as though I were not coming to you.

You are so proud of yourselves, but you should be mourning in sorrow and shame. And you should remove this man from your fellowship.

Dear brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself to illustrate what I’ve been saying. If you pay attention to what I have quoted from the Scriptures, you won’t be proud of one of your leaders at the expense of another.For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?You think you already have everything you need. You think you are already rich. You have begun to reign in God’s kingdom without us! I wish you really were reigning already, for then we would be reigning with you.

Which do you choose? Should I come with a rod to punish you, or should I come with love and a gentle spirit?
