I am not writing this to shame you. You are my dear children, and I want to warn you.

Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less?

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!

I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?

So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.As a fair exchange— I speak as to my children— open wide your hearts also.

But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.”

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.

Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God— I say this to your shame.

He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

I do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such a place in our hearts that we would live or die with you.

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.
