May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day! And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed!

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare.

Dear friends, do not be astonished that a trial by fire is occurring among you, as though something strange were happening to you.

“‘ This is because they have led my people astray saying,“ All is well,” when things are not well. In my anger there will be a deluge of rain and hailstones in destructive fury.I will break down the wall you coated with whitewash and knock it to the ground so that its foundation is exposed. When it falls you will be destroyed beneath it, and you will know that I am the LORD.I will vent my rage against the wall, and against those who coated it with whitewash. Then I will say to you,“ The wall is no more and those who whitewashed it are no more–those prophets of Israel who would prophesy about Jerusalem and would see visions of peace for it, when there was no peace,” declares the sovereign LORD.’

Indeed, as a result of him the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed– and a sword will pierce your own soul as well!”

I will make justice the measuring line, fairness the plumb line; hail will sweep away the unreliable refuge, the floodwaters will overwhelm the hiding place.

But they will not go much further, for their foolishness will be obvious to everyone, just like it was with Jannes and Jambres.

My message is like a fire that purges dross! It is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! I, the LORD, so affirm it!

Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

“ They will belong to me,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ in the day when I prepare my own special property. I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.
