Then Pilate commanded it to be given up.And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed.

And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good and righteous man( he had not consented to their counsel and deed), a man of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews, who was looking for the kingdom of God:this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain.

and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,saying that the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:

Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

there came Joseph of Arimathæa, a councillor of honorable estate, who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God; and he boldly went in unto Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.And when he learned it of the centurion, he granted the corpse to Joseph.And he bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of a rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

searching what time or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them.

And after these things Joseph of Arimathæa, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took away his body.And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb wherein was never man yet laid.There then because of the Jews’ Preparation( for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.Now on the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb.She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb;and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying; yet entered he not in.Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying,and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed.For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
