Otherwise what will they do who are being baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, then why are people baptized for them?

如果不是这样，那些替死人受洗的，将怎么办呢？如果死人根本不会复活，人们为什么还替死人受洗呢？

不然，那些為死人受洗的，將來怎樣呢？若死人總不復活，因何為他們受洗呢？

不然，那些為死人受洗的，能做甚麼呢？如果死人不會復活，為甚麼替他們受洗呢？

不然的話，那些替死人受洗禮的能有甚麼作用呢？如果死人總不能得甦活起來，為甚麼人還替他們受洗禮呢？

如果不是這樣，那些替死人受洗的，將怎麼辦呢？如果死人根本不會復活，人們為什麼還替死人受洗呢？

不然、為死者受洗何為耶、若死者概不見起、則為之受洗何故也、

死者不復生、則人緣復生而受洗者何為、其緣復生而受洗者何益、

若死者不復活、則人為死者受洗禮、行此何益、彼為死者受洗禮、何故也、

不然、為亡者領洗、亦胡為乎？死者果無復活、則人之為其領洗也、亦何為乎？

Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?

Suppose no one rises from the dead. Then what will people do who are baptized for the dead? Suppose the dead are not raised at all. Then why are people baptized for them?

Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf?

If the dead will not be raised, what point is there in people being baptized for those who are dead? Why do it unless the dead will someday rise again?

Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

Or else what will they do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead aren’t raised at all, why then are they baptized for the dead?

Jesus answered,“ You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”“ We are able,” they said to him.

If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus as a mere man, what good did that do me? If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised.

Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.
