And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

He was given over because of our transgressions and was raised for the sake of our justification.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Through him you now trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins.So when he came into the world, he said,“ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me.“ Whole burnt offerings and sin- offerings you took no delight in.“ Then I said,‘ Here I am: I have come– it is written of me in the scroll of the book– to do your will, O God.’”When he says above,“ Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin- offerings you did not desire nor did you take delight in them”( which are offered according to the law),then he says,“ Here I am: I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first to establish the second.By his will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.And every priest stands day after day serving and offering the same sacrifices again and again– sacrifices that can never take away sins.But when this priest had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, he sat down at the right hand of God,

Then Jesus said to them again,“ I am going away, and you will look for me but will die in your sin. Where I am going you cannot come.”So the Jewish leaders began to say,“ Perhaps he is going to kill himself, because he says,‘ Where I am going you cannot come.’”Jesus replied,“ You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.Thus I told you that you will die in your sins. For unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”

Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,and by this one everyone who believes is justified from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify you.

Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died( and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.

God exalted him to his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, since we have been reconciled, will we be saved by his life?

And the others who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them from continuing in office,but he holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever.So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.He has no need to do every day what those priests do, to offer sacrifices first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people, since he did this in offering himself once for all.For the law appoints as high priests men subject to weakness, but the word of solemn affirmation that came after the law appoints a son made perfect forever.

and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you– unless you believed in vain.

Indeed according to the law almost everything was purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.So it was necessary for the sketches of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves required better sacrifices than these.For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands– the representation of the true sanctuary– but into heaven itself, and he appears now in God’s presence for us.And he did not enter to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the sanctuary year after year with blood that is not his own,for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,so also, after Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation.

“ And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel,‘ This is what you have said:“ Our rebellious acts and our sins have caught up with us, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?”’
