你們也是這樣：你們若不用舌頭發出容易懂的話來，所說的怎能使人明白呢？那你們就簡直向空氣說話了！

照樣，如果你們用舌頭說出不可理解的話，那麼所說的怎麼能使人明白呢？這樣，你們就是向空氣說話了。

爾曹亦然、若舌不出易解之言、焉知所言乎、乃於空而言耳、

爾曹亦然、若以舌出言不明、焉知所言者何歟、豈非向空而言乎、

因此、爾操方言、亦必須加以闡明；不然、將何以使人曉然於爾之所言、是何異與西風作對話乎！

So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air.

It’s the same with you. You must speak words that people understand. If you don’t, no one will know what you are saying. You will just be speaking into the air.

So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air.

It’s the same for you. If you speak to people in words they don’t understand, how will they know what you are saying? You might as well be talking into empty space.

In the same way, unless you use your tongue for intelligible speech, how will what is spoken be known? For you will be speaking into the air.

So you too, unless you produce intelligible speech by the tongue, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will just be talking to the air.

So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.

So also ye, unless ye utter by the tongue speech easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will be speaking into the air.

In the same way, unless you use your tongue for intelligible speech, how will what is spoken be known? For you will be speaking into the air.

So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

It is the same for you. If you do not speak clearly with your tongue, how will anyone know what is being said? For you will be speaking into the air.

So also you, unless you uttered by the tongue words easy to understand, how would it be known what is spoken? For you would be speaking into the air.
