若吹無定的號聲，誰能預備打仗呢？

又如果軍號所發的聲音不清楚，誰會準備作戰呢？

就是號筒罷、若發出無定的聲音來，誰能豫備出戰呢？

實際上，如果號角發出的聲音真的不清楚，誰會準備好出戰呢？

角聲無定、孰備戰乎、

如吹角而音無別、奚以備戰乎、

若角不發一定之聲、誰備戰乎、

再如吹角、若發音含混不明、其誰復鼓舞精神、從事戰鬥耶？

Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?

And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?

And if the bugler doesn’t sound a clear call, how will the soldiers know they are being called to battle?

In fact, if the bugle makes an unclear sound, who will prepare for battle?

For if the trumpet produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?

For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war?

In fact, if the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will prepare for battle?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?

If you go to war in your land against an adversary who opposes you, then you must sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.

I said,“ Oh, the feeling in the pit of my stomach! I writhe in anguish. Oh, the pain in my heart! My heart pounds within me. I cannot keep silent. For I hear the sound of the trumpet; the sound of the battle cry pierces my soul!

In excitement and impatience it consumes the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet is blown.At the sound of the trumpet, it says,‘ Aha!’ And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.

If an alarm sounds in a city, do people not fear? If disaster overtakes a city, is the LORD not responsible?

Have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, while the priests blow the horns.When you hear the signal from the ram’s horn, have the whole army give a loud battle cry. Then the city wall will collapse and the warriors should charge straight ahead.”So Joshua son of Nun summoned the priests and instructed them,“ Pick up the ark of the covenant, and seven priests must carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark of the LORD.”And he told the army,“ Move ahead and march around the city, with armed troops going ahead of the ark of the LORD.”When Joshua gave the army its orders, the seven priests carrying the seven rams’ horns before the LORD moved ahead and blew the horns as the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed behind.Armed troops marched ahead of the priests blowing the horns, while the rear guard followed along behind the ark blowing rams’ horns.Now Joshua had instructed the army,“ Do not give a battle cry or raise your voices; say nothing until the day I tell you,‘ Give the battle cry.’ Then give the battle cry!”So Joshua made sure they marched the ark of the LORD around the city one time. Then they went back to the camp and spent the night there.Bright and early the next morning Joshua had the priests pick up the ark of the LORD.The seven priests carrying the seven rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD marched along blowing their horns. Armed troops marched ahead of them, while the rear guard followed along behind the ark of the LORD blowing rams’ horns.They marched around the city one time on the second day, then returned to the camp. They did this six days in all.On the seventh day they were up at the crack of dawn and marched around the city as before– only this time they marched around it seven times.The seventh time around, the priests blew the rams’ horns and Joshua told the army,“ Give the battle cry, for the LORD is handing the city over to you!The city and all that is in it must be set apart for the LORD, except for Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house, because she hid the spies we sent.But be careful when you are setting apart the riches for the LORD. If you take any of it, you will make the Israelite camp subject to annihilation and cause a disaster.All the silver and gold, as well as bronze and iron items, belong to the LORD. They must go into the LORD’s treasury.”The rams’ horns sounded and when the army heard the signal, they gave a loud battle cry. The wall collapsed and the warriors charged straight ahead into the city and captured it.

At that time a large trumpet will be blown, and the ones lost in the land of Assyria will come, as well as the refugees in the land of Egypt. They will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

The builders to a man had their swords strapped to their sides while they were building. But the trumpeter remained with me.I said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people,“ The work is demanding and extensive, and we are spread out on the wall, far removed from one another.Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, gather there with us. Our God will fight for us!”So we worked on, with half holding spears, from dawn till dusk.

Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.Stand firm therefore, by fastening the belt of truth around your waist, by putting on the breastplate of righteousness,by fitting your feet with the preparation that comes from the good news of peace,and in all of this, by taking up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.

He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people,but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death.He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.But suppose the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people. Then the sword comes and takes one of their lives. He is swept away for his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for that person’s death.’

He divided the three hundred men into three units. He gave them all trumpets and empty jars with torches inside them.He said to them,“ Watch me and do as I do. Watch closely! I am going to the edge of the camp. Do as I do!When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, you also blow your trumpets all around the camp. Then say,‘ For the LORD and for Gideon!’”

Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm signal on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land shake with fear, for the day of the LORD is about to come. Indeed, it is near!
