我願你們都能捲舌頭說話，但更願你們傳講神言。因為捲舌頭說話的、除非解釋出來、使教會得建立，那傳講神言的就比他強。

I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

I would like all of you to speak in other languages. But I would rather have you prophesy. The person who prophesies is more helpful than those who speak in other languages. But that is not the case if someone explains what was said in the other languages. Then the whole church can be built up.

Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

假使我用人之捲舌頭說話、甚至於用天使的語言來說話，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼響的鈸一般。

必有以下這些神迹隨着信的人，就是：奉我的名趕鬼；說新語言；

愛、是恆久忍耐，滿有慈惠；愛、不妒忌；愛、不誇張，不自吹自大，

我感謝上帝，我捲舌頭說話、或者比你們眾人強；但在集會中，我寧願用心思說上五句話、來教導人，強過捲舌頭說一萬句！弟兄們，在見識上別做小孩子；但在惡事上卻要做嬰孩；在見識上總要做成人。律法上記載着：『主說：我要用說別種語言的人、用別種人的嘴脣、向這人民說話；雖然如此，他們還是不聽順我！』這樣看來，捲舌頭話並不是給信的人、乃是給不信的人、作標記的；而神言傳講卻不是給不信的人，乃是給信的人的。所以全教會聚攏在一處的時候，若都捲舌頭說話，有外行的或不信的人進來，豈不是要說你們瘋了麼？但若眾人都傳講神言，有個不信的人或外行的進來，他一給眾人所訐發，一給眾人所審斷，他心裏的隱密事就顯露了。這樣，他就要俯伏敬拜上帝，傳揚說上帝真在你們中間了。弟兄們，那麼卻怎麼樣呢？你們聚攏來的時候，各人或是有「詩篇」，或是有教訓，或是有啓示，或是有捲舌頭話，或是有解明：都要為建立而作。若有捲舌頭說話的，那就要兩人兩人，或者至多三個人，並且要一一分開來說，也要有一個人解釋。倘若沒有解釋者，他在集會中就該閉口不言，只對自己說，又對上帝說。至於神言傳講師呢、只好兩個人或三個人說話，其餘的人就當明辨。倘若在座的另有人得了啓示，那先說話的就該閉口不言。因為眾人都可以傳講神言，一個一個地講，讓眾人學習，讓眾人得鼓勵。並且神言傳講師的靈、也順服着神言傳講師啊；因為上帝不是擾亂之上帝，乃是和平之上帝。婦女們在各集會中要閉口不言，像聖徒的眾教會中一樣。因為她們當眾說話是不被准許的；她們乃要順服，正如律法所說的。她們如果願意學甚麼，應該在家裏問自己的丈夫；因為婦女在集會中說話是可恥的。上帝之道哪是從你們而出呢？還是單單臨到你們呢？若有人自以為是神言傳講師、或是屬靈的，他就該確認我所寫給你們的是主的誡命。若有不承認，他就不被承認了。所以弟兄們，你們要切慕傳講神言，也別禁止捲舌頭說話了。一切都要端端正正按次序行。

你們也是這樣：你們既是切慕屬靈恩賜的人，就應當為了教會之建立、求得滿溢之靈恩。所以捲舌頭說話的要禱告、使他能解釋。

摩西的幫手、嫩的兒子約書亞、摩西所揀選的一個人、應時地說：『我主摩西，請制止他。』摩西對他說：『你為了我的緣故而生妒愛熱情麼？但願永恆主使他的人民都做神言人啊！但願永恆主將他的靈賜在他們身上啊！』

你們要追求愛，也要切慕屬靈的事，尤其要切慕傳講神言的才能。

上帝在教會裏所配置的，第一是使徒，第二是神言傳講師，第三是教師，其次是異能，再次是行醫的恩賜，是能扶助人，能治理人，能說捲舌頭話種種。難道都是使徒麼？都是神言傳講師麼？都是教師麼？都能行異能麼？都有行醫的恩賜麼？都能捲舌頭說話麼？對捲舌頭話都能解釋麼？

但傳講神言的卻是對人講建立勸勉和撫慰。捲舌頭說話的建立自己，傳講神言的卻建立教會。
