But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

But the person who prophesies speaks to people. That person prophesies to make people stronger, to give them hope, and to comfort them.

On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.

What then is the conclusion, brothers? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation, another language, or an interpretation. All things must be done for edification.

In the same way, encourage the young men to be self-controlled

The person who speaks in another language builds himself up, but he who prophesies builds up the church.I wish all of you spoke in other languages, but even more that you prophesied. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in languages, unless he interprets so that the church may be built up.

“ Everything is permissible,” but not everything is helpful.“ Everything is permissible,” but not everything builds up.

Say these things, and encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

For you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may learn and everyone may be encouraged.

For our exhortation didn’t come from error or impurity or an intent to deceive.

And we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s coworker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you concerning your faith,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

Brothers, I urge you to receive this message of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.

About food offered to idols: We know that“ we all have knowledge.” Knowledge inflates with pride, but love builds up.
