你們對主的順服已人人皆知，我為你們高興，我希望你們在好事上聰明，在壞事上無知。

當然我們也跟成熟的人談論智慧，不過並非這個世代的智慧，也不是那些在世上當權、將來要衰亡之人的智慧。

「我實在告訴你們，你們若不變得像小孩子那樣，絕不能進天國。

相反，你們要在我們的主和救主耶穌基督的恩典中不斷長進，越來越認識祂。願榮耀歸給祂，從現在直到永遠。阿們！

那時，耶穌說：「父啊，天地的主，我頌讚你，因為你把這些事向聰明、有學問的人隱藏起來，卻啟示給像孩童一般的人。

我所祈求的就是：你們的愛心隨著屬靈知識的增加和辨別力的提高而日益增長，

弟兄姊妹，以前我對你們講話的時候，還不能把你們看作屬靈的人，只能把你們看作屬肉體的人，是在基督裡的嬰孩。我只能用奶而不能用飯來餵養你們，因為你們當時不能消化，甚至現在也不能。

這樣，我們就不再像小孩子，被各種異端邪說之風吹得飄來飄去，被人的陰謀詭計欺騙，隨波逐流。相反，我們說話要憑愛心堅持真理，在各方面都要追求長進，更像元首基督。

我們中間成熟的基督徒都應該有這樣的看法。即使你們在什麼事上看法不同，上帝也必讓你們明白。

所以我們要離開有關基督的初級道理，努力邁向成熟，而不是再次打基礎：教導為致死的行為悔改、信靠上帝、各種洗禮、按手禮、死人復活、永遠的審判等道理。上帝若許可，我們會這樣做。

按你們學習的時間來算，你們本該做別人的老師了，可惜你們還需要別人向你們傳授上帝話語的基本道理，成了不能吃乾糧、只能吃奶的人。因為只能吃奶的人還是嬰孩，不熟習仁義的道理。

我比我的老師更有洞見，因為我思想你的法度。

我實在告訴你們，人若不像小孩子一樣接受上帝的國，絕不能進去。」

耶和華啊，我的心不狂傲，我的眼目也不高傲；我不敢涉獵太偉大、太奇妙的事。我的心靈平靜安穩，如同母親身邊斷奶的孩子，我的心靈如同斷奶的孩子。
