你们对主的顺服已人人皆知，我为你们高兴，我希望你们在好事上聪明，在坏事上无知。

当然我们也跟成熟的人谈论智慧，不过并非这个世代的智慧，也不是那些在世上当权、将来要衰亡之人的智慧。

“我实在告诉你们，你们若不变得像小孩子那样，绝不能进天国。

相反，你们要在我们的主和救主耶稣基督的恩典中不断长进，越来越认识祂。愿荣耀归给祂，从现在直到永远。阿们！

那时，耶稣说：“父啊，天地的主，我颂赞你，因为你把这些事向聪明、有学问的人隐藏起来，却启示给像孩童一般的人。

我所祈求的就是：你们的爱心随着属灵知识的增加和辨别力的提高而日益增长，

弟兄姊妹，以前我对你们讲话的时候，还不能把你们看作属灵的人，只能把你们看作属肉体的人，是在基督里的婴孩。我只能用奶而不能用饭来喂养你们，因为你们当时不能消化，甚至现在也不能。

这样，我们就不再像小孩子，被各种异端邪说之风吹得飘来飘去，被人的阴谋诡计欺骗，随波逐流。相反，我们说话要凭爱心坚持真理，在各方面都要追求长进，更像元首基督。

我们中间成熟的基督徒都应该有这样的看法。即使你们在什么事上看法不同，上帝也必让你们明白。

所以我们要离开有关基督的初级道理，努力迈向成熟，而不是再次打基础：教导为致死的行为悔改、信靠上帝、各种洗礼、按手礼、死人复活、永远的审判等道理。上帝若许可，我们会这样做。

按你们学习的时间来算，你们本该做别人的老师了，可惜你们还需要别人向你们传授上帝话语的基本道理，成了不能吃干粮、只能吃奶的人。因为只能吃奶的人还是婴孩，不熟习仁义的道理。

我比我的老师更有洞见，因为我思想你的法度。

我实在告诉你们，人若不像小孩子一样接受上帝的国，绝不能进去。”
