如用諸國方言祈禱、是第以心祈禱、而所言之意、無益於人、

我若以方言祈禱、則我神祈禱、而我心無益、

蓋吾若以方言祈禱、則吾之心魂誠禱矣、而吾之理智則未受其益也。

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.

What is it then? For he that speaketh in an[ unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth[ him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that[ by my voice] I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an[ unknown] tongue.
