接著，保羅按手在他們身上，聖靈就臨到了他們。他們就說起殊言，又說預言。

當神說到「新約」，就已經把第一個當做舊的；而那漸漸變舊、漸漸變老的，很快就要消逝了。

所以現在常存的有信、望、愛這三樣；而其中更大的是愛。

如果我能說人間和天使的各種殊言，卻沒有愛，我就成了嘈雜的鑼、鳴響的鈸；如果我有做先知傳道的恩賜，也明白一切奧祕、一切知識，並有全備的信，以致能移山，卻沒有愛，我就一無所是；

因為在基督耶穌裡，受割禮或不受割禮都沒有用處，只有藉著愛行出來的信仰才有用處。

於是他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈賜給他們的話，開始說出別種語言。

但那完全的來到時，這有限的就將被廢除。

又有人被賜予了大能的功用，又有人被賜予了做先知傳道的恩賜，又有人被賜予了對不同靈的分辨力，另有人被賜予了各種殊言，又有人被賜予了翻譯殊言的恩賜。

但是，我已經為你祈求，使你不失去信仰。所以當你回轉過來的時候，要堅固你的弟兄們。」

在教會中，神所安排的：首先是使徒，第二是做先知傳道的，第三是教師，然後是有大能的；隨後是使人痊癒的恩賜、幫助的恩賜、管理的恩賜、各種殊言的恩賜。難道都是使徒嗎？都是做先知傳道的嗎？都是教師嗎？都是有大能的嗎？都有使人痊癒的恩賜嗎？都說殊言嗎？都翻譯殊言嗎？

所以，我的弟兄們，你們要渴慕做先知傳道，也不要禁止說殊言。
