保羅把手按在他們身上時，聖靈便降在他們身上，他們就說方言，講上帝的信息。

上帝既然說要立新約，就是把以前的約當作舊的了，那漸漸過時、陳舊的東西很快就會消失。

如今常存的有信、望、愛這三樣，其中最偉大的是愛。

即使我能說人類和天使的各種語言，如果沒有愛，我不過像咣咣作響的鑼和鈸。即使我能作先知講道，又明白各樣的奧祕，而且學問淵博，甚至有移開山嶺的信心，如果沒有愛，我仍然算不了什麼。

我們既然已經在基督耶穌裡，受不受割禮根本無關緊要，藉著愛表現出來的信心才至關重要。

大家都被聖靈充滿，得到聖靈所賜的才能，說起別的語言來。

等那全備的來到，這一切有限的事都要被廢棄。

聖靈使這人能行神蹟，使那人能作先知講道；使這人能辨別諸靈，使那人能說方言，又使另一人能翻譯方言。

論到以東，萬軍之耶和華說：「提幔再沒有智者了嗎？謀士已無計可施了嗎？他們都失去智慧了嗎？

但我已經為你禱告了，叫你不至於失去信心。你回頭以後，要讓你的弟兄剛強。」

上帝在教會中設立的第一是使徒，第二是先知，第三是教師，其次是行神蹟的，然後是有醫病恩賜的，幫助別人的，管理事務的，說各種方言的。豈是都作使徒嗎？都作先知嗎？都作教師嗎？都行神蹟嗎？都有醫病的恩賜嗎？都懂得說方言嗎？都會翻譯方言嗎？

所以，我的弟兄姊妹，你們要切慕作先知講道，也不要禁止說方言。
