你们作外邦人的时候，随事被牵引，受迷惑，去服侍那哑巴偶像，这是你们知道的。

爾乃異邦人、素惑於不言之偶像、隨人所誘、

爾原為異邦人、昔崇事不能言之偶像、隨人所誘、此爾所知也、

爾當猶憶昔為外教人時、如何溺於習俗、惑於無靈之偶像。

You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.

因为往日随从外邦人的心意行邪淫、恶欲、醉酒、荒宴、群饮，并可恶拜偶像的事，时候已经够了。

因为他们自己已经报明我们是怎样进到你们那里，你们是怎样离弃偶像，归向神，要服侍那又真又活的神，

有口却不能言，有眼却不能看，

所以你们应当记念：你们从前按肉体是外邦人，是称为没受割礼的；这名原是那些凭人手在肉身上称为受割礼之人所起的。那时，你们与基督无关，在以色列国民以外，在所应许的诸约上是局外人，并且活在世上没有指望，没有神。

雕刻的偶像，人将它刻出来，有什么益处呢？铸造的偶像就是虚谎的师傅。制造者倚靠这哑巴偶像有什么益处呢？对木偶说：“醒起！”对哑巴石像说：“起来！”那人有祸了！这个还能教训人吗？看哪，是包裹金银的，其中毫无气息。

你们中间也有人从前是这样；但如今你们奉主耶稣基督的名，并藉着我们神的灵，已经洗净，成圣，称义了。

但从前你们不认识神的时候，是给那些本来不是神的作奴仆；

它好像棕树，是旋成的，不能说话，不能行走，必须有人抬着。你们不要怕它；它不能降祸，也无力降福。”

有手却不能摸，有脚却不能走，有喉咙也不能出声。

我们从前也是无知、悖逆、受迷惑、服侍各样私欲，和宴乐，常存恶毒嫉妒的心，是可恨的，又是彼此相恨。

任凭他们吧！他们是瞎眼领路的；若是瞎子领瞎子，两个人都要掉在坑里。”

他们将神像抬起，扛在肩上，安置在定处，它就站立，不离本位；人呼求它，它不能答应，也不能救人脱离患难。

所以我说，且在主里确实地说，你们行事不要再像外邦人存虚妄的心行事。他们心地昏昧，与神所赐的生命隔绝了，都因自己无知，心里刚硬；

有口却不能言，有眼却不能看，

知道你们得赎，脱去你们祖宗所传流虚妄的行为，不是凭着能坏的金银等物，
