to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages.

He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in other languages.

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

So then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?

And God has placed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, managing, various kinds of languages.Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other languages? Do all interpret?

What then is the conclusion, brothers? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation, another language, or an interpretation. All things must be done for edification.If any person speaks in another language, there should be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and someone must interpret.But if there is no interpreter, that person should keep silent in the church and speak to himself and to God.Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate.

And look, I am sending you what My Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”

Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, and above all that you may prophesy.For the person who speaks in another language is not speaking to men but to God, since no one understands him; however, he speaks mysteries in the Spirit.But the person who prophesies speaks to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation.The person who speaks in another language builds himself up, but he who prophesies builds up the church.I wish all of you spoke in other languages, but even more that you prophesied. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in languages, unless he interprets so that the church may be built up.

After this I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, and your young men will see visions.

Therefore, if the whole church assembles together and all are speaking in other languages and people who are uninformed or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?But if all are prophesying and some unbeliever or uninformed person comes in, he is convicted by all and is judged by all.

For you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may learn and everyone may be encouraged.And the prophets’ spirits are under the control of the prophets,

If I speak human or angelic languages but do not have love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.

These are the last words of David: The declaration of David son of Jesse, the declaration of the man raised on high, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, the favorite singer of Israel:The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me, His word was on my tongue.

And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.I will even pour out My Spirit on My male and female slaves in those days, and they will prophesy.

First of all, you should know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation,because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.

Don’t despise prophecies,

At the same time, God also testified by signs and wonders, various miracles, and distributions of gifts from the Holy Spirit according to His will.

I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them to be liars.

For they heard them speaking in other languages and declaring the greatness of God. Then Peter responded,“ Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began to speak in other languages and to prophesy.

This man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.While we were staying there many days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.

When Saul and his attendant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God took control of him, and he prophesied along with them.Everyone who knew him previously and saw him prophesy with the prophets asked each other,“ What has happened to the son of Kish? According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of one’s faith;

Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for languages, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.

Then the Lord descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the 70 elders. Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world. This took place during the time of Claudius.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them ability for speech.There were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven.When this sound occurred, a crowd came together and was confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language.And they were astounded and amazed, saying,“ Look, aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?How is it that each of us can hear in our own native language?Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabs— we hear them speaking the magnificent acts of God in our own languages.”They were all astounded and perplexed, saying to one another,“ What could this be?”
