飯後也照樣拿起杯來，說：「這杯是用我血所立的新約，是為你們流出來的。

為此，他作了新約的中保，既然受死贖了人在前約之時所犯的罪過，便叫蒙召之人得着所應許永遠的產業。凡有遺命必須等到留遺命的人死了；因為人死了，遺命才有效力，若留遺命的尚在，那遺命還有用處嗎？所以，前約也不是不用血立的；因為摩西當日照着律法將各樣誡命傳給眾百姓，就拿朱紅色絨和牛膝草，把牛犢山羊的血和水灑在書上，又灑在眾百姓身上，說：「這血就是神與你們立約的憑據。」

但願賜平安的神，就是那憑永約之血、使羣羊的大牧人－我主耶穌從死裏復活的神，

他叫我們能承當這新約的執事，不是憑着字句，乃是憑着精意；因為那字句是叫人死，精意是叫人活。

我們所祝福的杯，豈不是同領基督的血嗎？我們所擘開的餅，豈不是同領基督的身體嗎？

但他們的心地剛硬，直到今日誦讀舊約的時候，這帕子還沒有揭去。這帕子在基督裏已經廢去了。

所以，無論何人，不按理吃主的餅，喝主的杯，就是干犯主的身、主的血了。人應當自己省察，然後吃這餅、喝這杯。
