For when it is time to eat, everyone proceeds with his own supper. One is hungry and another becomes drunk.

蓋食時各先食己餐、飢者有之、醉者有之、

各謀先食、饑者有之、飽者有之、

因食之時、各爭先取己餐而食、於是饑者有之、醉者亦有之、

蓋每人各先食其自備之餐；於是不獲一飽者有之、而縱飲無度者亦有之。

for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk.

As you eat, some of you go ahead and eat your own private meals. Because of this, one person stays hungry and another gets drunk.

suffering harm as the wages for their harmful ways. By considering it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight, they are stains and blemishes, indulging in their deceitful pleasures when they feast together with you.

Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread that we break a sharing in the body of Christ?Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share the one bread.Look at the people of Israel. Are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar?

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread,and after he had given thanks he broke it and said,“ This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”In the same way, he also took the cup after supper, saying,“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, every time you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
