No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.

Do you really think you need to take sides? You probably think God favors one side over the other!

for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.

Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.

One day Jesus said to his disciples,“ There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.As you test yourselves, I hope you will recognize that we have not failed the test of apostolic authority.We pray to God that you will not do what is wrong by refusing our correction. I hope we won’t need to demonstrate our authority when we arrive. Do the right thing before we come— even if that makes it look like we have failed to demonstrate our authority.

But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

We have found this man to be a troublemaker who is constantly stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the cult known as the Nazarenes.

As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”

But we want to hear what you believe, for the only thing we know about this movement is that it is denounced everywhere.”
