蓋分派立異之事、在所不免；偽者既起、則真者彌著矣。

No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.

Do you really think you need to take sides? You probably think God favors one side over the other!

for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.

But, of course, there must be divisions among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized!

Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! It is necessary that stumbling blocks come, but woe to the person through whom they come.

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you– unless, indeed, you fail the test!And I hope that you will realize that we have not failed the test!Now we pray to God that you may not do anything wrong, not so that we may appear to have passed the test, but so that you may do what is right even if we may appear to have failed the test.

But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. These false teachers will infiltrate your midst with destructive heresies, even to the point of denying the Master who bought them. As a result, they will bring swift destruction on themselves.And many will follow their debauched lifestyles. Because of these false teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will desert the faith and occupy themselves with deceiving spirits and demonic teachings,influenced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.

idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions,

For we have found this man to be a troublemaker, one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Indeed, as a result of him the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed– and a sword will pierce your own soul as well!”

But I confess this to you, that I worship the God of our ancestors according to the Way( which they call a sect), believing everything that is according to the law and that is written in the prophets.
