次日清早，百姓起來獻燔祭和平安祭，就坐下吃喝，起來玩樂。耶和華吩咐摩西：「下去吧，因為你從埃及領上來的百姓已經敗壞了。他們這麼快偏離了我所吩咐的道，為自己鑄了一頭牛犢，向它跪拜，向它獻祭，說：『以色列啊，這就是領你出埃及地的神明。』」

他們在何烈山造了牛犢，叩拜鑄成的像，將他們榮耀的主換為吃草之牛的像，

耶和華對我說：『起來，趕快從這裏下去！因為你從埃及領出來的百姓已經敗壞了；他們這麼快偏離了我所吩咐的道，為自己鑄造偶像。』

你們豈不知不義的人不能承受上帝的國嗎？不要自欺！無論是淫亂的、拜偶像的、姦淫的、作娼妓的，親男色的、

但現在，我寫信告訴你們，若有稱為弟兄的人卻仍犯淫亂，或貪婪，或拜偶像，或辱罵，或醉酒，或勒索，這樣的人不可跟他交往，就是跟他吃飯都不可以。

我觀看，看哪，你們得罪了耶和華－你們的上帝，為自己鑄成了一頭牛犢，迅速偏離了耶和華所吩咐你們的道，我拿着那兩塊石版，從我雙手中扔出去，在你們眼前把它們摔碎了。因為你們所犯的一切罪，做了耶和華眼中看為惡的事，惹他發怒，我就像從前一樣俯伏在耶和華面前四十晝夜，沒有吃飯，沒有喝水。我很害怕，因為耶和華向你們大發烈怒，要除滅你們。但那一次耶和華又應允了我。耶和華也向亞倫非常生氣，甚至要除滅他；那時我也為亞倫祈禱。我把那使你們犯罪所鑄的牛犢拿來，用火焚燒，搗碎後再磨成粉末，好像灰塵。我把這灰塵撒在從山上流下來的溪水中。

所以，我親愛的，你們要遠避拜偶像的事。

約書亞一聽見百姓呼喊的聲音，就對摩西說：「在營裏有戰爭的聲音。」

亞倫從他們手裏接過來，用模子塑造它，把它鑄成一頭牛犢。他們就說：「以色列啊，這是領你出埃及地的神明！」

摩西走近營前，看見牛犢，又看見人在跳舞，就發烈怒，把兩塊版從手中扔到山下摔碎了。

弟兄們，在心志上不要作小孩子。但是，在惡事上要作嬰孩，而在心志上總要作大人。律法上記着：「主說：我要用外邦人的舌頭和外邦人的嘴唇向這百姓說話；雖然如此，他們還是不聽從我。」這樣看來，說方言不是為信的人作標記，而是為不信的人；作先知講道不是為不信的人作標記，而是為信的人。

可是，不是人人都有這知識。有人到現在因拜慣了偶像，仍以為所吃的是祭過偶像的食物；既然他們的良心軟弱，也就污穢了。
